　　日本女子羽球运动员，米仓加奈子在1998年8月也就是曼谷亚运会３个月前的亚洲羽球锦标赛上首次打进十六强，这已是她在国际比赛中取得的最好成绩。可是事隔3月摇身一变，连续击败中国大陆世界冠军选手叶钊颖和龚智超，成了亚运会女单金牌得主。

　　22岁的米仓加奈子当时还是日本大学生，她腼腆地说："我很幸运。可能是我把叶钊颖蠃了，龚智超背上了为国争夺金牌的包袱，心理压力太大。"

　　米仓加奈子在国际羽坛闯荡已有几年，但每逢与实力强劲的中国选手过招，她都以悬殊比数落败。曼谷亚运会上她却接连把世界冠亚军中国的叶钊颖和龚智超打落马，创造了亚洲乃至世界羽坛上的一个奇迹。

　　米仓加奈子以打智慧球着称，她说，蠃球和屡爆冷门没有什为窍门，"一是尽我所能，用高昂的拼劲打好比赛；二是准备充分，战术运用得当，用稳健的球路让对手出错。"

　　对於中国选手来说，米仓加奈子这个名字并不陌生。98年优霸杯赛上，她输给叶钊颖，曼谷亚运会团体赛中又败给龚智超。但她能从失败中汲取教训，找到对策，即使是第一局被叶钊颖剃了个光头一分未得，被龚智超打得仅得１分，照样方寸不乱，後来居上反败为胜。临危不乱和意志坚定，使得她能够後发制人，让世界名将能在拍下称臣。

　　生於东京的米仓加奈子就读日本筑波国际大学，主修社会保险。10岁时开始学打羽球，亚运前每天训练４个小时，每周练６天。她的特长是脑子清楚，拚劲足，网前技术出色，假动作逼真，善於後来居上。

　　五、六十年代，日本曾在世界羽坛女子项目中技压群芳。但在1970年第六届曼谷亚运会上夺得女团、女单和女双冠军後，日本羽球开始走下坡。时隔28年之後，米仓又让日本羽球界看到亚运金牌的模样，并为日本羽球注入一股清新的活力泉源。

Kanako Yonekura: Cinderella Girl
With an especially dramatic victory, Kanako Yonekura became the first Japanese in 28 years to take a gold medal in the women's badminton singles event. Yonekura had to face extremely tough competition, but she succeeded against all odds in defeating the world champion from China in the quarterfinals and the third-placed player in the world, also from China, in the final match. It was a glorious performance, worthy of an Olympic triumph, and the spirited Yonekura became the Cinderella girl of Bangkok. After the final match, Yonekura remarked that she had put everything into the game. Her victory was proof that Japanese athletes, who are said to be weak under the pressure of major events, can succeed if they go for it. Now sports fans are keeping their attention on Yonekura and the rest of the Japanese squad as they begin preparing for the summer Olympics to be held in Sydney in 2000.

why do i feel what i felt 2 months ago. now.why do i feel that something is missing in this heart of mine. why is it that i had to be so obsessed with her. causing stir-ups in school. i regret not doing what i should have done. it was there wide open. my parents were ok with it. why did i say no? why? they drove to the pan pacific. right there. my mum asked me. if you want to go, get off the car. if not i m turning off. i should have said yes. at least i would feel. better. in a sense. since last night.i havent felt the way i alwaes did. i wasnt so serious abt it after probably a week. after. and now. i m suddenly. so. crazy. suddenly so wanting her. i need someone. i need to talk.nothing goes well at home. i really need to talk.

so bored. now... hahaha! was watchin scv. u koe wad channel? 20. (my channel 20 has been canceled.) so i watched the schedules of shows haha! hmmm... so many interesting sports shows gonna be aired tonight namely THE YONEX DUTCH OPEN FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!! and where wud i be?? hmmmm... eating away at a birthday party. of a grand uncle who is 70. "Yonekura?Rising to glory at 2003 Yonex Dutch Open?

15/9/2003: 15-09-2003: After the withdrawal of Mia Audina, the Netherlands, Kanako Yonekura, 26, is a strong favourite to take the Ladies Singles title on Sunday...

She is very modest about her changes, emphasising she still has to win over another Dutch player, Yao Jie of the Netherlands.

I lost to her (Yao Jie) a few weeks ago in Malaysia where she played very well? Yonekura gives it a 50-50 chance to come out on top after their meeting in the second round.

Yao Jie plays with Japanese Mori

19/9/2003: 19-09-2003: Dutch Yao Jie is in the semi finals of the Yonex Dutch Open. Her Japanese opponent, Kaori Mori, had no chance...

It was an easy victory for the Chinese born girl, who got her Dutch passport a few months ago and finally it seems to make her feel more relaxed on court.

Although she surpringly lost her latest competition match last Saturday, this week she is playing superbly on the Den Bosch courts.

Japanese Kaori Mori should have listened better to her colleague Kanako Yonekura who had lost to Jie the previous round, but it was no sense; Jie was better and is a serious candidate for gaining her first Dutch Open title...

Final score: 11-5, 11-2
